Location: Powell Wyoming

Description: HealthTech is presently looking of Registered First Nurse Assistant (RNFA) right now, this job will be placed in Wyoming. For detail informations about this job opportunity please give attention to these descriptions. The RNFA is a perioperative registered nurse practicing as first assistant in surgery. The RNFA functions in an expanded perioperative role. The RNFA role in the perioperative arena include preoperative patient management in collaboration with other health care providers, intraoperative performance of surgical first assistant techniques, and postoperative management in collaboration with other health care providers in the immediate postoperative period. The RNFA will not concurrently perform the duties of the surgical technician or circulator.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Works collaboratively with other health care providers in preoperative patient management, developing and implementing a perioperative plan of care unique to patient needs.
  • Works directly with and under the supervision of the surgeon during surgeries;
 Assists with positioning patient  Using instruments and medical devices  Providing surgical site exposure  Handling and/or cutting tissue  Providing hemostasis  Prepares and administers medications  Suturing and skin stapling
  • Works collaboratively with other health care providers in postoperative patient management.
  • Maintains dignity of the patient while assuming the role of patient advocate.
  • Recognizes safety hazards and initiates preventative and/or corrective actions to ensure a safe environment for the patient and the surgical team.
  • Demonstrates competency in psychosocial and psychomotor aspects of nursing.
 Implements nursing actions by either direct care or delegation of that responsibility, based on level of acuity and individual patient need.  Understands and reacts effectively to unique needs of patients whose age may range from premature infant to elderly adult.  Contributes, as needed, to the plan of care and delegation of surgical team.
  • Evaluates nursing practice and nursing environment and contributes to the development of high standards to ensure quality care.
  • Attends staff meetings and in-services as required by Powell Valley Healthcare and by accrediting agencies. Participates in special projects or assignments.
  • Demonstrates an awareness of cost effective patient care delivery.
  • Actively participates in professional development by attending educational programs offered inside and outside of the organization.
  • Demonstrates competency in basic computer skills through the capacity to learn and apply electronic applications.
  • Will participate in the “On Call” schedule as RNFA and will remain within 30 minutes of the hospital during call hours.
Required Skills

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as laboratory and x-ray reports, physician orders, history and physical, Patient/Resident Care Standards.
  • Ability to use therapeutic communication skills in order to establish rapport with patients/residents and families.
  • Ability to speak and document clearly and concisely.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with members of the Health Care Team.
  • Ability to problem solve in the delivery of patient care and changes in patient status.
  • Ability to perceive potential problems and respond proactively.
  • Ability to comprehend instructions in written, verbal, or diagram, form and carry them out.
  • Ability to modify care based on the developmental/functional age of the patient/resident as well as that of that patient’s ethnic background.
Required Education

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Current Wyoming RN license in good standing.
  • RNFA Certification
  • BLS for Healthcare Provider.
  • ACLS or the ability of achieving same within one (1) year of hire
  • Registered Nurse, licensed in the State of Wyoming.
Required Experience

  • RNFA certification and 3+ years clinical experience in an operating room setting.
  • Excellent knowledge of surgical anatomy, physiology, and operative techniques.
