The Chief, Medical Service ensures that quality medical care is provided to the patients in a safe and clinically appropriate ! manner. The incumbent ensures that appropriate supervision is provided to the medical staff and to medical students rotating through Medicine Service. Duties and responsibilities include a variety of medical care management techniques, which requires knowledge, skills, licensures and experience as a physician. Position involves understanding of the requirements for: safety, evaluations, knowledge and skill in the procedures, administration and documentation of inpatient and outpatient medical care, knowledge of emotional behaviors and responses to variety of treatment procedures; and skill in maintaining effective work relationships with patients, members of the interdisciplinary treatment team, colleague leaders, executive leadership and members of affiliated programs. The Chief, Medicine Service demonstrates a commitment to the success of the organization as well as organizational stewardship.
Functions and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Light carrying less than 15 pounds, Reaching above shoulder, Use of fingers, Walking 1 hour, Standing 2 hours, Mostly sitting, Near vision correctable at 13Â" to 16Â" to Jaeg! er 1 to 4, Far vision correctable in one eye to 20/20 and to 20/40 in o! ther eye, Ability to distinguish basic colors, Hearing (aid permitted), Working closely with others, Protracted or irregular hours of work. The Cheyenne VA Medical Center is a Level 2 facility, providing primary and secondary inpatient services in medicine and surgery as well as outpatient services in medicine, surgery and psychiatry. Three Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs) are located in Fort Collins and Greeley, Colorado, as well as in Sidney, Nebraska.

Qualifications & Evaluations
In order to qualify for this position you must meet the following:
Basic Requirements :
Preferred Experience: 1 (one) year of managerial or leadership experience and clinically trained in Internal Medicine; Current ACLS/BLS certification; and BC/BE in Internal Medicine.
Reference: VA Regulations, specifically VA Handbook 5005, Part II, Appendix G-2 Physician Qualification Standard. This can be found in the local Human Resources Office.
