As a Business Manager, you will partner with department leaders to manage the development and execution of strategic planning and initiatives for the department. You will apply business expertise, systems thinking, analytical capability, and program/project management to anticipate and plan for long-term needs and trends. You will engage and consult with all levels of the division and Premera, to develop and deliver on new business strategies, projects, and programs, providing regular updates to officers on progress. You will guide and mentor others to ensure business efficiency and effectiveness.
This is a virtual/telecommuter position, working from home.
What you’ll do:
  • Consult and work with officers and department management to identify key business issues, outline strategic alternatives, and recommend effective solutions.
  • Manage departmental planning process and perform independent analyses for a broad array of complex issues. Identify and recommend suggested action steps based on analytic results and make recommendations to management.
  • Manage execution of department strategic plan deliverables, including development of goals, objectives, and roadmaps.
  • Lead the integration of departmental projects and programs by development of project team objectives, implementation of team, managing, risk and ensuring key stakeholders are kept informed about progress and outcomes. Provide status updates, ad-hoc strategic and planning discussions, and post project assessment.
  • Work closely with leadership and team associates to design, implement, and operate new programs and/or enhancements.
  • Demonstrate a breadth of knowledge across multiple lines of Premera’s business and provide subject matter expertise in departmental programs and business processes across the company.
  • Lead and motivate teams and maintain high quality cross-group relationships.
  • In partnership with Corporate Communications, establish proper departmental communication strategy and as needed, provide proactive project communications.
  • Increase team performance and inter-departmental collaboration.
What you’ll bring:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or a related field of study, or (4) years of work experience. (Required)
  • (5) years of experience in developing, implementing, training, and supporting new or existing strategic programs and processes, including (5) years of experience in program, project, and change management or a combination of the three. (Required)
  • Master's Degree in Business preferred.
  • Experience in professional services consulting.
  • Experience with a large employer, health organization, or insurer.
  • Working knowledge of the healthcare industry and other integrated solution products (health, welfare, complimentary, ancillary, etc.).
  • Strong presentation skills with the ability to communicate to all levels of the organization.
  • Strong customer/member experience and relationship skills.
  • A systems thinker in program/project management, process improvement, and understanding both technical and non-technical infrastructure.
  • Demonstrated ability to assess and fix organizational program capabilities and potential points of vulnerability.
  • Ability to build effective work teams and develop flexible approaches as needed to achieve the highest member contributions.

The pay for this role will vary based on a range of factors including, but not limited to, a candidate’s geographic location, market conditions, and specific skills and experience.
National Salary Range:
$75,200.00 - $127,900.00
National Plus Salary Range:
$85,000.00 - $144,500.00
  • National Plus salary range is used in higher cost of labor markets including Western Washington and Alaska.
