Provide professional nursing services to patients, clients and staff including inpatient, residential programs and clinic settings. This includes general nursing with additional knowledge in developmental disabilities and mental illness (dua! l diagnosis).
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Continuous care of patients through writing care plans, assessing, planning, initiating, implementing, evaluating and documenting to assure appropriate patient care and outcomes.
Triage calls from staff and handle both routine concerns and emergencies.
Administer medications and treatments, complete or assist with ADL's.
Provide meals via G-tubes or assist with meals.
Move patients every 2 hours, complete ventilator checks every 4 hours.
Give injections, PPD's, start IV's, care for and change gastrostomy and tracheostomy tubes.
Review lab values and consult reports. Monitor seizures and weights.
Use computer for communication, documentation, progress notes and reports.
Monthly, quarterly and yearly reports and assessments.
Coordinate and schedule clinic appointments, outside consultations, surgeries and procedures.
Participate in t! eam meetings, IPP's and IHP's.
Other duties as assign! ed.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
Knowledge of ICF/MR, nurses practice act, state policies and procedures.
Honest, moral and ethical.
See and hear to sufficiently monitor the safety of the client.
Knowledge of and ability to operate medical equipment.
Knowledge of and ability to consistently use and demonstrate basic principles of infection control.
Skills in time management, organization and computer usage.
Ability to develop nursing diagnosis, plans of care and assume responsibility for own actions.
Provide training, teaching and interpretation of information as needed.
Positive, accurate and effective communication with clients, staff, families, guardians and the public.
Knowledge and skills in good customer service practice.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to safely move (twisting, bending, kneeling, pushing, pulling), position and lift people with mu! ltiple and severe disabilities.
PREFERENCES:
Must be licensed or eligible for licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Wyoming
