Pre-Certification ClerkFacility: Cheyenne Regional Medical CenterDepartment: Pre-RegistrationSchedule: Full-timeShift: Day shiftHours: 9-530Job Detai! ls: High School graduate or equivalent requiredROLE SUMMARYThe Pre-Certification Clerk serves as a resource by assisting with patients payor reimbursement needs. This position will act as the point person for physicians to expedite patient admissions and transfers. This includes being the receiving person for initial orders. Acts as an authority on admission criteria and insurance expectations.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES1. Reviews all pre-scheduled diagnostic procedures and surgeries on a daily base. 2. Reviews all diagnostic and surgery registrations for accuracy.
Identifies and reconciles all errors.3. Verifies all diagnostic, surgical, and inpatient admissions. Eligibility & benefits must be verified on all workmans compensation, and high-risk (e.g., motor vehicle or third party liability) outpatients must also be verified. 4.
Obtains and documents pre-certification, certification, and/or proper referral during the verification process. Completes al! l necessary forms and paperwork (e.g., pre-admit diagnostic, s! urgeries.) 5. Creates, if necessary, any pre-scheduled registrations that have not been completed prior to date of service, and routes them to appropriate location as necessary. Re-checks all Inpatients for accuracy.
6. Double checks social data for any errors, patient data guarantor data, and reconciling if necessary to avoid problems on bill, communicating changes if necessary to appropriate departments7. Maintains a high level of customer service/satisfaction in pre-admissions. This is accomplished by the timely and accurate completion of all duties as outlined above.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills Strong knowledge of the admission process Knowledge of both government and a non-government payer Demonstrates a basic understanding of hospital insurance contracts to determine if treatment and services are covered by insurance at facility Demonstrates an independent work initiative, sound ju! dgment and attention to detail and the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously Proficient with standard office equipment Proficient with medical terminology MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent Minimum of two years admitting experience or equivalent office experience
