JOB SUMMARY:
This is an entry-level Finance Trainee position located in the Finance Department where the Trainee will be employed so long as the trainee is pursing and progressing in education and training requirements in conjunction with the Career Development Program. This position will lead to a career progression into a permanent full-time Payables or Payroll Specialist position at a time to be determined based on the assessment of the CFO and the Career Development Manager. In this position, the Finance Trainee will receive mentorship and training from Finance Directors and Analysts to assist in the development of skills necessary to become a Payables or Payroll Specialist.

Under the general supervision of the Career Development Manager and the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), the Finance Trainee will learn to perform increasingly complex finance duties. The Trainee must also provide high quality customer service to both internal and external groups.

MAJOR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:- Engage in training in order to develop skills to become a Payables or Payroll Specialist in the Finance Department.
- Comply with training requirements as established by the Career Development Program.
- Assist in providing administrative support to the department including copying, filing, scanning and organizing documents.
- Create and maintain spreadsheets and databases of records and files.
- Develop skills in using Microsoft Office software applications, especially Excel and Word.
- Develop skills necessary to perform Payables Specialist duties including:
- Processing invoices for payment.
- Reconciling vendor statements.
- Processing checks and related sign out sheets and processing cash receipts.
- Entering accounts payable information for other Tribal enterprises.
7. Develop skills necessary to perform Payroll Specialist duties including:
- Receiving, organizing and coding payroll documents.
- Entering timesheet information into the payroll system.
- Entering, maintaining and reconciling employee garnishments.
- Processing requisitions for Payroll related invoices.
8. Assist with other Finance tasks as assigned.
9. Because of the Tribe’s commitment to community service and the wellbeing of its members, each employee may be expected to perform a wide range of office and field duties from time to time. Such duties may or may not be related to their regular responsibilities.
EDUCATION - EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING FOR POSITION:- Must be an enrolled Muckleshoot Tribal member.
- Must be a high school graduate or equivalent.
- General office principles and practices

At the completion of Career Development Program, the Finance Trainee must be able to demonstrate the following skills and abilities:
