The Registered Nurse will assess, plan, implement, evaluate and supervise individual patient care according to unit policies and procedures. Accept responsibility for direction of co-workers in the implementation of care plans. May be required to work on other units according to distribution of staff and patients.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Completes nursing assessment of patient and documents appropriately into patient chart. Develops and reviews and revises a plan of care, including a discharge plan, based upon the assessment of patient's needs.
2. Implements medical and nursing orders per plan of care and documents appropriately. Evaluates patient's response to care.
3. Engages in patient and family teaching as appropriate.
4. Oversees staff assigned for providing patient care.
5. Collaborates with leadership to assure the integration of the ANAâs Scope & Standards of Practice, assuring that these standards are identified as the measurement criteria for nursing practice on the unit.
6. Unit specific orientation and ongoing training and competencies are assigned based on department role, scope of services, and organizational standards. Documentation of these trainings and competencies will be held in an electronic format.
DEPARTMENT SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
ARU/TCU: Attends family conferences, patient care Conferences, and daily stand up meetings.
CARE CLINIC, SAME DAY SURGERY, AND PACU: Collaborates with the Clinical Nurse Manager to assure integration of ASPANâs Standards of Perioperative Nursing Practice.
CLINICAL EDUCATION: Instructs Nurse Residency or clinical certification classes as directed by the program director. Deliver clinical curriculum utilizing various methods.
HOSPICE: Serves as patient case manager and focuses specifically on the physical, spiritual, and emotional needs of the patient and family in a nurturing and supportive role. Attends the first available hospice volunteer training after acceptance of employment.
HOSPITALIST: Integrates health care for clients from pre-admission to post-discharge. The nurse functions in structured and unstructured health care settings. The nurse utilizes independent nursing judgment when integrating health care. Will have knowledge of and utilize appropriate age-related patient care protocols relating to the physical and psychological needs of adult and geriatric patients.
MEDICAL IMAGING:
Procedural Nurse: Provides IV moderate sedation and pain relief. Assists with biopsies, the placement of drains for abscesses, and the insertion of chest tubes. May assist with Peripheral Runoffs, PAS port placements and removals, Nephrostomy/Biliary tube placements, AV Fistulograms with and without angioplasty, IVC Filter placement and removal, Discograms and thrombolytic infusion therapy.
Vascular Access Nurse: Hard stick IVs, ultrasound guided IVs, PICC insertions, mid-line insertions, port accesses, and dressing changes.
RESOURCE POOL: Float within designated pod and clinical specialty.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES
- Demonstrates effective leadership and professional skills according to Standards of Care.
- Ability to assess a patientâs condition, formulate plan of care, select appropriate interventions, evaluate patientâs response to plan of care and to explain to patient/family about this process.
- Ability to assess, evaluate, explain, teach, problem solve using critical thinking; and perform calculations.
- Demonstrates excellent professional and clinical skills and utilization of the Nursing process of direct and indirect patient care which includes assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of nursing care to meet patient needs and improve patient outcomes.
- Licensed with the Wyoming Board of Nursing or through one of the States participating in the enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC) at the RN level or above
- Associateâs or Bachelorâs Degree from an accredited school of nursing
- AHA BLS
- 6 months experience required unless otherwise specified below
o Minimum of one year medical or surgical nursing experience required for Care Clinic and Same Day Surgery
o Minimum of one year experience required for Resource Pool
REQUIREMENTS TO BE COMPLETED ONCE HIRED:
- Specialty certifications, per department, must be obtained prior to completion of RN Nurse Resident graduation. Specialty certification grace periods are not applicable to employees hired with current specialty certifications or CRMC RN Nurse Resident graduates
- Specialty certifications grace periods, unless otherwise specified per department (see mandatory requirements for specialty units):
o TNCC and ENPC should be obtained within 1 year of hire or transfer as required by specialty unit.
Candidates must meet the following mandatory requirements for specialty units once hired:
o Administrative Reps. â" AHA ACLS
o Administration Rapid Response â" AHA ACLS, TNCC, ENPC or AHA PALS
o Behavioral Health â" CPI training prior to completion of orientation
o Cardiac Services â" AHA ACLS
o ED â" NIH Stroke Scale certification during orientation, AHA ACLS, TNCC within 6 months, CPI within 1 year, ENPC
o Endoscopy â" AHA ACLS
o ICU â" AHA ACLS, TNCC, and NIH Stroke Scale certification within 1 year
o Labor and Delivery â" AAP NRP, AHA ACLS within 6 months of completing L&D orientation, AWHONN Fetal Heart Monitoring within 6 months of completing L&D orientation, PeriOp 101 within 1 year of hire/transfer to L&D
o MBU â" AAP NRP, AHA ACLS if floated to L&D
o Medical Imaging â" Procedural Nurse: AHA ACLS, AHA PALS, and Moderate Sedation within six months of hire
o Nursery â" AAP NRP
o OR â" TNCC or AHA ACLS within 1 year, CNOR within 2 years, PeriOp 101 course within 1 year
o PACUâ" AHA ACLS, AHA PALS
o PCU â" AHA ACLS and TNCC
o Peds â" AHA NRP, AHA PALS or ENPC within 6 months of finishing specialized orientation
o Resource- AHA ACLS, CPI within 6 months
o Telemetry â" AHA ACLS within 1 year of hire
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelorâs degree from an accredited school of nursing
- Specialty certifications as preferred per department:
o CPAN for PACU
o Minimum of six months critical care experience for PACU
